Choice C: So far, is this a novel about race? Class? Gender? Coming of Age? Place? Select and defend your answer

I think this novel is more about race and class because the Negroes have their own church and when Calpurnia took Scout and Jem the Negroes were looking at them and they were talking about them also when aunt Alexandria found out she got mad because she said that they could have killed Jem and Scout. Also aunt Alexandria wanted to fire Calpurnia. It's also about class because when Tom went up to the stand he said he felt bad for the Ewell's because the Negros were higher then them. Also Aunt Alexandria thinks that Atticus shouldn't be defending Tom because he is black and she thinks that the Fiche's shouldn't be seen with someone lower.

B. Compare and contrast yourself to either Scout or Jem at their age. Compare and contrast your summer activities, friends, relationships with your dad, siblings, and adults.

I will compare myself to Scout. Somethings we have in common would be that were both girls and I have alot of guy cousins. When i was little my cousins would have me play soccer and football because i have no other chose but to hang out with them. Now since I'm older I don't really Play with them and I hang out Whit my mom. But now if i have to play soccer or football I don't mind because I know how to play. Also like scout I have a brother and we get along well but he is six years old and I'm 13 years old. Even though there is a big age difference i still try and play with him.

Perspective: Scout

Well today i called my dad boring because he doesn't do any stuff like my friends dad do. He likes to read allot and not play poker like other dad's and he doesn't like to shoot anything. But Today i learned something new about him. I learned that they call him One shot. Because He was really good at shooting. The reason i learned that today is because me and Jem were walking out side and we saw a dog it looked really wired and sick so we went to tell Calipurnia about it she thought it would be a waste of time but she still came. When she saw the dog she told us to go inside and not come out she said the dog was a mad dog. she was calling everyone and telling them not to go out side because their was a mad dog. Atticus got here and Mr. Heck told my dad to shoot the dog but my dad said he couldn't because he hasn't done it in three years. But he still did it i was really surprised when he did it because he had really good aim. Later on Jem told me not to tell kid's at my school or to ask Atticus why he never told us. But i think Atticus didn't want to tell us because it would have been a bad influence or because he his a Lawyer and it wouldn't look good on a Lawyer

Perspective: Aunt Alexandria

I found out that Calpurnia took Jem and Scout to a Nigger church i don't think they were ECCLESIASTICAL it's right because something bad could have happened to them they could have gotten killed but obviously Calpurnia doesn't see that. I told scout to talk to one of her cousins and she didn't even know they were cousins. I was really mad so when Atticus got her i EMERGE to him i told him that they shoul be proud of the Finch family because we have a reputation. And i don't want some little kids to destroy that. So i told him to talk to Scout about it but she started to cry. And Atticus said sorry. Scout wants to find out what rape is and she keeps asking. I tried getting ride of Calpurnia i think she is a bad example for the kids. I ANTAGONIZE Calpurnia

Perspective: Atticus

Miss Maudie’s house was burning in the night so I woke Scout and Jem up to go out side. When they were laying down Half asleep someone put a blanket over.When I asked her about it she didn't know who put it over her.Jem said that Boo Radley put it on her, and he reveals the whole story of the knothole. I told him to keep it to him self and not tell anyone. The next day i noticed Miss Maudie happy she said she hated her old house and that she was planing on building a smaller house to make room for her plants. She said she wished she was their when Boo Radley put the Blanket on Scout.

Perspective: Jem

Today we went to the Radley house and i got my pants stuck to the fence. When me Scout and Dill got to our house we saw people in a crowd and we asked my dad what happened and he said a negro shot up in the air. Atticus asked were my pants were. Dill said he won them playing Strip poker. Atticus told me to go get them from Dill's house. Since dill didn't have them he was going to let me borrow some but they fit to big so i decided to go get them from were I left them. When I saw my pants they weren't stuck on the Fence any more they were folded really neat I was in shock. Also one day when my little sister Scout was walking home she saw a tree and their was chewed gum in their Scout put it in her mouth and wen she got here she told me about it I was really disgusted because I think that's really nasty. One day I walked home with her and she showed me the tree and their was more thing's in their. Every day we went their was something new. And the day we were going to leave a letter to see who was the one that was putting all the things in the tree. But that same day we were going to put the letter someone had covered it with cement. Scout felt like crying but Jem told her not to. Later on I asked Mr. Radley if he covered it with Cement and he said "yes" and I asked him why and he said the tree was dying.

Well today I'm With my aunt. I'm spending the rest of my summers with my aunt i think its pretty cool because now i don't get bored a lot and i meet some new people like today. I met someone named Scout and Jem they are brothers their mom died and they live with their dad his name is Atticus he is a Lawyer. At first i was intimidated. I don't think any of the people here are going to Irk Me like at home. I want people to Compromise me to stay here. Hopefully not many people Malevolent me. I don't want people to Condescend around me. well I'm Upset because school is starting and I wanted to stay. I have heard that Scout could read too, Atticus thought her how to read. But Scouts teacher didn't like that so she tries to make Scout feel bad i think Scouts teacher should be happy for her. I hope Scout doesn't let it get to her. I also hear that her her teacher hit Scout with a ruler i got really mad because I don't think anyone should be hit by their teachers because then they aren't going to want to come to school they would be to scared. Scouts teacher is Exaggerating a lot. She started to scream when a bug came out of a boys head. The little boy is poor so he isn't that clean I think she should have felt bad for him instead of screaming.

19. What in the book upsets you or bothers you? Why?
What upset me in this book is that maniac didn't have anyone to rely on until almost the end. also that they would give maniac to his aunt and uncle when they hate each other alot. I don't think that's a healthy to live in

I wounder if the author has gone thru something like this.. i wounder what inspired the author to write this book that starts with a sad beginning

13. Which character would you like to be like? In what way? Why?

I would choose maniac magee because i want to feel the way he feels. When he is mad fun of or when he was living with his aunt and uncles because i have never seen any couple stay together because of their religion i have never seen that big of hatred. Also i want to feel who it feel when u could do whatever you want. but i wouldn't want my parents to die in a train crash.

16. Which character would you like (or not like) to be your friend? Why?

I would choose maniac magee to be my friend so i could help him out and help him be someone successful in life.

Why i picked it

I Picked this book because i have some friends that have read this book and they said it was a really good book that the author had a great way to discribe the charecters. I also picked it because i had read another book about jerry spinelli and it was called loser and it was a really great book in almost each chapter it left u hanging

3. What does this book make you wonder about? Why?
This book makes me wonder about maniac if he is going to be successful in life and if he is going to have a good work. The reason I'm wondering this is because he hasn't met some people that are very successful in life and I'm wondering if he is going to follow those steps.



19. What in the book upsets you or bothers you? Why?

What made me upset about this book is were he had to go live with his aunt and uncle because his parents die. I got upset when the author said that his aunt and uncle hate each other and cant share anything and that they have to buy every thing twice because they hated each other so much. Also that they couldn't get a divorce because they were catholic and that religion says that they could get a divorce. I think every one should be avall to get a divorce because it might get to the point were someone kills another person just becsue they arent happy with each other.

18. What has surprised you in the book? Why?
In this book i have been surprised by this book when they actually made a song out of mainiac magee. I think that's really mean because i would never want people to make a mean song out of me. It also surprised me were he said that his parents died in a train crash and he had to move in with his aunt. And his aunt and uncle hate each other but they are catholic so they have to stay together.





12. Do you think you would read another book by this author? Why or why not?
Yes, i would read another book by this author. I'm pretty sure that if I saw another book that had the same author it would catch my eye, like this one did. In this book i like the way the author choose the character and the characteristics. The Characters were really interesting and hopefully all the books he has made have a interesting charecter.
